2003 - Receives certificate of compliance for child resistant / senior friendly non-reclosable blister pack standard 2nd April, 2003, Tonbridge, UK – Pill protect™, the highly flexible and innovative child resistant / senior friendly (CR/SF) solution for blister-packed drugs has passed the BS 8404 tests for child resistance and senior friendliness, making it the first UK solution for non-reclosable packaging to meet the standard. With child resistance on non-reclosable blister and strip packaging due to become law later this year and BS8404 being the standard for child resistance, Pill protect™ is the first company to offer drug manufacturers a solution that will enable them to rapidly comply with new legislation. "We are extremely pleased at how well Pill protect™ has done in the BS 8404 tests, meeting the most stringent criteria for child resistance and senior friendliness and passing with flying colours. We have invested a lot of time and effort in getting the product right and now we can offer customers a compelling solution that will help them meet new legal requirements quickly and efficiently," comments Jonathan Bobbett, managing director of Pill protect™. Pill protect™ is designed to minimize cost, turnaround times and disruption to existing production lines. Recent tests with some of the major blister-pack machine manufacturers have shown that Pill protect™ runs at full machine speed, not reducing throughput at all and thereby avoiding any potential reductions in production capacity that BS 8404 compliance might create. Pill protect™ also offers customers a range of new ‘on-pack’ marketing and branding opportunities, previously not possible with conventional foil-sealed products. About Pill protect™ The product combines permanent and peelable adhesives on a secondary layer which is laid down in a pattern to match the layout of the blister and the tablet pockets. The peelable sections are aligned over the pocket areas and are perforated. With these sections in place it is very difficult to push the tablets out, but when they are peeled back the tablets can be pushed through the normal blister foil. -ends-
