Our Products

The benefits:

  • We are fully compliant with BS 8404 and EN14375 and therefore with the UK and European legislative requirements.
  • Our  products provide a smooth printable surface, allowing branding to be carried through from box  to blister.
  • Our products do not alter the primary packaging materials and consequently only a type 1 license upgrade is required, helping to minimise costs.
  • The products have been designed to run on existing packaging lines with minimal loss of production times.

Each product is given an F= rating, recording the number of units that were accessed by children during testing (whilst still allowing 90% of seniors to access the drugs).

The lower the F= rating, the higher the level of resistance. An F=8 rating is the minimum rating required for compliance in the UK and the rest of Europe, whilst an F=3 rating is more suitable for the US market, where a more toxic drug is required to have a lower rating.

Pill Protect has two safety solutions for blister packs:

A paper barrier product that has a pattern of perforations around the pill cell offering a measured and bespoke level of resistance from an F=8 rating to an F=3 rating. The pill is levered against the barrier in order to break the pre-existing foil and paper layer. Each blister is evaluated for its layout, composition of the drug, size and shape. The paper barrier is designed to fit with perforations in place prior to application, on-line, when the drug is packaged.

The F=8 rated version is targeted at the over-the-counter analgesics market.  The F=3 rated version is used to protect more toxic drugs such as cancer pain relief drugs and is particularly suited to markets (such as the US) where a higher level of protection is required by legislation.

A laminate barrier consisting of a paper upper layer, which prevents any product from being pushed through. The barrier is perforated to coincide with the pocket layout on the blister and the underside is covered with a grid of adhesives. Permanent adhesive holds the barrier, with peelable adhesive and the perforations, allowing the sections over the pockets to be peeled away revealing the foil of the blister. The dosage form can then be pushed through as normal

The F=4 rated version can be used with all dose formats independent of their size, shape or any physical weaknesses.
